The Prayer of the Insane
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 8302 )
Q: Is an insane person punished for the actions he committed before his insanity, which are not pleasing to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), such as leaving the prayer, fasting, and zakah, and others? This is because he was sane at the beginning of his life, but the onset of insanity occurred later?
A: His ruling during his days of sanity is the ruling of all sane, accountable people regarding reckoning, reward, and punishment. His ruling during his days of insanity is the ruling of other insane people, in that the pen is lifted from him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
