Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (So he turned away with his might and said, "A sorcerer or a madman")]
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 39] This means that he accused Musa (peace be upon him) of being a sorcerer; because he brought signs resembling what sorcerers do: a staff of wood placed on the ground becoming a clear serpent, and a hand put into the armpit coming out white immediately. This resembles magic.
(Or a madman) He said: He is a madman; and that is because he claims that Allah alone is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and He is the Lord and the God; because they did not know any god except Pharaoh,If a person comes and says: He is Allah, Lord of the worlds, and that Pharaoh is not a god nor a Lord. So they accuse him of madness. This is a madman who has gone beyond what we know and beyond what we are accustomed to.
Allah the Exalted said:
But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."
فَتَوَلَّى بِرُكْنِهِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ(Or a madman) He said: He is a madman; and that is because he claims that Allah alone is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and He is the Lord and the God; because they did not know any god except Pharaoh,If a person comes and says: He is Allah, Lord of the worlds, and that Pharaoh is not a god nor a Lord. So they accuse him of madness. This is a madman who has gone beyond what we know and beyond what we are accustomed to.
