Sprinkling water on carpets is sufficient to purify them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The second question of Fatwa number ( 2989 )

Q2: Many people use luxury items for the carpets in the rooms of their houses. So, if a child, for example, urinates on the carpet at any age, is it sufficient to pour water on it to purify it from the impurity, considering that the carpet may be large, may be stuck to the ground, or may have large cabinets or beds attached to it, or not?
A2: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions.. After that: If the one who urinated on this carpet or something like it is a boy who has not yet started eating food, then sprinkling water on it until it covers the place of the impurity is sufficient for its purification, and it is not obligatory to wring it out or wash it. However, if he has started eating food, or if it is a girl, whether she has started eating food or not, then washing is necessary for its purification, and pouring water on the place of the impurity is sufficient. It is not obligatory to remove the carpet, nor
to wring it out, just as with impurity on the ground; for what is established in the two Sahihs from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him):
That an Arab man urinated in the mosque; so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a bucket of water be poured on his urineأن أعرابيًّا بال في المسجد؛ فأمر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يصب على بوله دلو من الماء
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
