How to purify impurities that fall on clothing and the ground
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a small child urinates on his father's clothes, is the father obligated to wash the entire garment, or only the wet part? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
If the child is eating food, i.e., deriving nourishment from food, he washes what affected the garment, but he does not wash the entire garment; rather, he washes only what the urine affected. The same applies to other impurities: he washes only the place of the impurity, whether on the body, on the garment, or on a spot on the ground. Everything else remains pure.
As for the boy who is not eating food, i.e., not deriving nourishment from food, but is nourished only by milk, by breast milk from his mother, washing is not obligatory. Rather, the place of the urine is sprinkled; water is passed over it only, and that is sufficient. Water is passed over it without the need for rubbing or washing. Rather, if water is passed over it, that suffices. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urinated on his garment, [while] a child who was not eating food [was present], so he followed it with water and did not wash it—(peace and blessings be upon him). He said (peace and blessings be upon him): So the urine of a boy who does not eat, who does not derive nourishment from food, is only sprinkled; its place is sprinkled, followed with water, and that suffices. Yes.
