The obligation to remove impurity from the body and clothing
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 7835 )
Q1: Regarding the matter of wudu', specifically the feet: does the washing have to be done three times, like the face and the hands? A person walks and treads on impurities on the ground and does not clean them by washing three times. We have heard it said that whoever goes beyond three has transgressed the Sunnah. If three washings are sufficient for the feet, but some trace of filth remains on the foot, is the wudu' valid without adding to the three? We ask for your ruling on this, may Allah preserve you.
A1: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions... And after: It is obligatory to remove impurity from the feet if it is wet with water before beginning the wudu. Then, if one is in a state of ritual impurity, he performs wudu, and he does not exceed three washings for each limb, except for the head and the ears, for which the Sunnah is
to limit oneself to a single wipe. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
