It happened that we traveled during the vacation and left a chicken in a cage, and we placed enough food and water for it, but after our return, we found that it had died.

The questioner : He says:The questioner : It happened that we traveled during the vacation and left a chicken in a cage.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : And we left a chicken in a cage and placed enough food for it in the evening, but after our return.

The Shaykh : And the food and not the water?

The questioner : It is the water, in the water.

The Shaykh : Huh?

The questioner : I think it is in the water.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : This is his wording: we placed enough food and water for it, but after our return, we found that it had died, knowing that we were aware that the water was sufficient for it.

The Shaykh : Aware?

The questioner : Aware that the water was sufficient for it, so what is our obligation regarding this?

The Shaykh : It appears to me that you did not neglect your duty; you left the water and food for it, and it died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A woman entered the Fire because of a cat she had locked up; she did not feed it when she locked it up, nor did she release it to eat from the creatures of the earth. دخلت النار امرأة في هرة حبستها، لا هي أطعمتها إذ حبستها، ولا هي أرسلتها تأكل من خشاش الأرض
Someone might say: perhaps the chickens died from the heat. We say: the heat is not known to be the cause until it can be said that you neglected to take precautions against it. As long as the place where the chickens are kept is shaded as usual, there is no sin on you. Yes.
