The Ruling on Vocalizing the Intention
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 2444 )
Q2: What is the ruling on vocalizing the intention , such as saying: “I intend to pray two rak'ahs for Allah the Exalted, for His noble Face, the Fajr prayer”?
A2: Prayer is worship, and acts of worship are based on divine legislation; nothing is prescribed in them except what is indicated by the Noble Qur'an or the pure, authentic Sunnah. It is not established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) vocalized the intention in prayer, whether obligatory or voluntary. Had he done so, his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would have transmitted it and acted upon it, but that did not happen. Therefore, vocalizing the intention in prayer is, in all cases, a religious innovation. It is established that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1718a And he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani) .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردAvoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.
