The third question of Fatwa No. ( 8006 )
Q 3: What is the ruling on drawing images of living beings? The answer, without a doubt, is that it is forbidden, and it is not permissible for Muslims, nor for any Muslim, to do this. However, I was unable to convince the teacher of this. I told him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2109a, and Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says to the owner of the image: "Blow into it a soul." And O professor, if you want to draw, draw for example a tree, a house, a shoe, a book, etc., on the condition that the drawing is not three-dimensional and does not symbolize souls, etc. But he—may Allah guide him—is not convinced. He says: "Give me evidence from the Noble Qur'an." I said: "The Prophetic Sunnah and the Noble Qur'an, each complements the other, and the Sunnah is what our Prophet (may the best of prayers and peace be upon him) brought. And you, I seek refuge in Allah, are not convinced by what our Prophet (may the best of prayers and peace be upon him) brought." I ask for an answer to these questions so that I can give every questioner his due. And I told him: "The scholars are the heirs of the prophets," etc. And he said to me: "I do not know evidence except from the Noble Qur'an." I ask Allah to guide everyone to what He loves and is pleased with. O Allah, amen, O Lord of the Mighty Throne. .
A 3: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions. After that:
The rulings of the Shari'ah are taken from the Qur'an just as they are taken from the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); for Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nur 24:54], and He said: [An-Nur 24:54], and He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:31], and He said: [An-Nisa 4:65], the verse, and He said: [An-Nisa 4:80], and He said: [An-Nisa 4:115], and He said: [An-Najm 53:3-4], the verses, and He said: [An-Nahl 16:44], and He said:
[Al-Hashr 59:7], and so on from the Qur'anic verses indicating the obligation to act upon what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in terms of hadiths. Authentic hadiths have been narrated from him regarding the prohibition of drawing images of living beings and the threat of severe punishment for the drawers on the Day of Resurrection. Among these is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 2109a, agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And in (Sahih al-Bukhari) , from Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him): Musnad Ahmad 1364Hasan because of corroborating evidence; this is a da'eef isnad] (Darussalam), and he cursed the drawer. The hadiths on this matter are numerous. We ask Allah to guide your teacher and inspire him with right guidance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
