Explaining the Perfection of the Religion and the Virtue of Taking Knowledge from the Book and the Sunnah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Whoever Allah guides, no one can mislead, and whoever He causes to go astray, no one can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. May the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, upon his family, upon his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: It is pleasing to me on this night, the night of Sunday corresponding to the twelfth of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal in the year 1409, to meet you here in this place, the place of my brother, Shaykh Abu Bakr al-Jazairi, on his behalf, to meet you in a gathering that I hope, may Allah the Exalted and Glorified make it blessed and beneficial for us all.
O dear brothers, among the blessings of Allah the Exalted and Glorified upon His servants is that He facilitates such gatherings between the people of knowledge and the general public. And among the blessings of Allah the Exalted and Glorified in these recent times is that people have fully turned to learning and to being eager to derive their learning from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). It is not hidden from us all that in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) there is healing, guidance, and sufficiency, and that they are a proof, a proof for a person to use against anyone who wishes to stand against this Shari'ah in belief, conduct, and methodology. For there is truly no weapon except the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And this weapon, which I mean the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), is sufficient for every believer; as soon as you say, "Allah said" and "His Messenger said," the believer will say, "We hear and we obey, and we believe and we accept." Moreover, they are weapons for the believer and the non-believer alike, because they contain both transmitted evidence and rational evidence. How often does Allah the Exalted say in the Qur'an:
So that they may think. لعلهم يتفكرون
Or have they not reflected? أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوا
And how often does Allah strike tangible examples to bring closer the intelligible meanings. This indicates that the intellect has a profound effect in convincing people. And what some people assume, that the Book and the Sunnah are merely transmitted evidence, is certainly a mistaken assumption.
