The first, second, and third questions from Fatwa No. ( 7887 ):

Q1: Why is the Islamic religion called (Islam)?
A1 : Because whoever enters it turns his face to Allah, submits, and obeys all the rulings that came from Allah and from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted said:
And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himselfوَمَنْ يَرْغَبُ عَنْ مِلَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِلا مَنْ سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُ
[Al-Baqarah 2:130]
... to His saying:
When his Lord said to him, "Submit", he said "I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds."إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ أَسْلِمْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:131]
, and He said:
Yes [on the contrary], whoever submits his face in Islam to Allah while being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lordبَلَى مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَلَهُ أَجْرُهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:112]
