Apostasy: Action, Speech, and Belief
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second and third questions of Fatwa No. ( 7150 ):
Q2: It is said that apostasy can be in the form of action or speech. Please clarify for me, briefly and clearly, the types of apostasy in action, speech, and belief?
A2: Apostasy is disbelief after Islam. It occurs through speech, action, belief, or doubt. Whoever associates partners with Allah, or denies His lordship or His oneness, or one of His attributes, or some of His books, or His messengers, or insults Allah or His Messenger, or denies the prohibition of something whose prohibition is agreed upon by consensus, or considers it permissible, or denies the obligation of one of the five pillars of Islam, or doubts the obligation thereof, or doubts the truthfulness of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) or any other of the prophets, or doubts the resurrection, or prostrates to an idol, a star, or the like—has committed disbelief and apostatized from the religion of Islam. You should read the chapters on the ruling of apostasy in books of Islamic jurisprudence, for they have dealt with it extensively, may Allah have mercy on them.
And through this, you will know from the previous examples apostasy in speech, action, and belief, and the form of apostasy in doubt.
