The deeds of the apostate before his apostasy

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: “May Allah guide you, O Shaykh. If a person commits apostasy and then returns from it, are his acts of worship performed before the apostasy invalidated or not?”

Answer:
There is a difference of opinion on this; there is a difference of opinion among the scholars. Some say that his deeds performed before the apostasy are invalidated, so he must repeat the Hajj, for example, he must repeat the Hajj because the first Hajj was invalidated. And some scholars say: they are not invalidated; if he repents, his deeds return to him, because Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: So He conditioned the invalidation of deeds upon two things. The first thing: apostasy. And the second: dying upon apostasy. This indicates that if he repents before death, his deeds are accepted, his deeds remain, and they are not invalidated, and perhaps this is the correct view.
