The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 8938 ):
Q6: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you shake hands with the Christians , purify yourselves." Do we wash our hands after shaking hands with them? Or do we perform wudu for prayer? We ask for a clear and convincing answer from your eminence; because we live among disbelievers, and there is no power nor strength except in Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent.

A hadith appeared in the book [Al-Fawa'id al-Majmu'ah]: It was narrated byIbn 'AdifromIbn 'Abbas(may Allah be pleased with them both), traced back to the Prophet, and he said: It is not authentic. In its chain of narration isIbrahim ibn Hani': an unknown narrator who reports fabrications. Al-Kinani mentioned him in his book [Tanzih al-Shari'ah] and said: It is not authentic. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers upon our Prophetal-Kinaniin his book [Tanzih al-Shari'ah] and said: It is not authentic. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers upon our ProphetMuhammad,and his family and his Companions, and peace be upon them.
