Q: I submit this to your eminence, hoping that you, may Allah preserve you, will answer the following question for the sake of Islam: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We were ordered to leave them and what they believe." Question: Is this hadith reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? If it is reported, what is its
degree of authenticity? Is it acted upon now? Or has the hadith been abrogated by something else, if it is reported? Or if it is fabricated, I ask for clarification of that.
A: We do not know of a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "We were ordered to leave them and what they believe," nor one with its meaning. Rather, it contradicts the Book and the authentic Sunnah, which command conveying the Shari'ah and fighting those who do not respond to it. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
