Hanging iron and the like on a postpartum woman or a circumcised boy to bring benefit or ward off harm

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 10536 ):
Q: When a woman gives birth, she wears iron with her for 40 days. They believe that this iron protects them from the evil of the jinn, and they believe that the iron benefits them apart from Allah. It is He who created them in the first place. I have reached a point of dispute with my mother and my wife. What is your advice for my mother and my wife? May your advice be a blessing that resolves this problem that has occurred in all the tribes in Dhofar. I also ask for advice for the Muslim women who believe
that the iron benefits and harms apart from Allah, and I ask for important advice on the same matter so that I can call people to the right path. Also, the circumcised boy stays for the same period that the woman stays; he does not fast or pray, and he carries the iron with him for 40 days. I want advice and evidence as soon as possible. May Allah reward you with the best reward for Islam and the Muslims.

A: Among the types of major shirk (associating partners with Allah) that expels one from the religion of Islam is hanging iron and the like on a postpartum woman or a circumcised boy to bring benefit or ward off harm. Allah the Exalted said:
And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Mercifulوَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلا هُوَ وَإِنْ يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
[Yunus 10:107]
, and from 'Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him),
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man with a ring of brass on his hand and said: What is this? He said: It is for the wasting disease. He said: Remove it, for it will not increase you except in weakness. If you were to die with it on you, you would never succeed.
, and from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), marfu' (traced to the Prophet):
Whoever hangs a tamimah, Allah will not complete for him, and whoever hangs a wada'ah, Allah will not grant him peace.من تعلق تميمة فلا أتم الله له، ومن تعلق ودعة فلا ودع الله له
Both were narrated by Ahmad, and in a narration:
Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk.من تعلق تميمة فقد أشرك
.. You have done well in your advice to those mentioned and your care in guiding them to abandon this shirky bid'ah (religious innovation). May Allah reward you with good. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
