Fatwa number ( 10685 ):
Q2: What is the ruling on one who says: “I am a Muslim by speech only,” while he is with the people of religious innovation and shirk (associating partners with Allah) in his actions? Is he a Muslim in reality? And is it permissible to eat from his slaughter?
A2: One who pronounces the two testimonies, affirming what they indicate and acting in accordance with their requirements, is a Muslim and a believer. And one who commits what contradicts them in words or actions of shirk (associating partners with Allah) is a disbeliever, even if he pronounces them, prays, and fasts. For example, if he calls for aid from the dead or slaughters for them out of reverence and exaltation, it is not permissible to eat from his slaughter. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
