Vowing at the shrines of the shaykhs is shirk (associating partners with Allah)

Fatwa number ( 9412 ):
Q: I am a young man in high school (a student). Since I was a child, my family in Sudan has been visiting the shrines of the shaykhs to rub against them, seek blessing from them, and make vows to them. My soul rejects these scenes, but I am unable to speak out; because in their eyes I would be considered a disbeliever, and they would poison me, and certainly they would harm me. They claim to possess karamah (miracles granted to a righteous person) because they are awliya (close friends of Allah); most of them claim to have seen Allah. I used to envy that in my heart until I somehow became acquainted with the Ansaar al-Sunnah al-Muhammadiyyah group, who clarified to me that what these people claim is nothing but illusions and shirk (associating partners with Allah), and that they are people of bid'ah (religious innovation), and every bid'ah is in the Fire. I found some books on tawhid (the oneness of Allah) by the Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab with them, but I am unable to purchase them due to financial constraints; I rely on borrowing their books and returning them after a short period. I ask you, as a father and a caller to the truth, to clarify to me in a private message your opinion of this group, and to provide me with some books if possible to light my path. And Allah is the one behind the intention.
A: Vowing at the shrines of the shaykhs is shirk (associating partners with Allah); because a vow is a form of worship, and directing any part of it to other than Allah is major shirk. Likewise is their supplication to them and seeking their aid; because the intention behind that is seeking blessing from them. And it is authentic
from the hadith of Abu Waqid al-Laythi what indicates that, as mentioned by the Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him) in [Kitab al-Tawhid] in the chapter on one who seeks blessing from a tree or a stone or the like, and likewise rubbing against the shrines seeking blessing from their people. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
