The claim that the heavens and the earth were created for the Messenger (peace be upon him) and the ruling on seeking blessing from the soil of his grave

Fatwa number ( 4244 ):
Q: My brothers in Allah, I ask you to enlighten my heart regarding a question that has confused me about the beloved, the chosen one, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his noble family and companions). My brothers in Allah, I hear some of the brother shaykhs saying on the occasion of the Mawlid: that if not for Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the heavens and the earth would not have been created, some of the brother shaykhs saying on the occasion of the Mawlid: that if not for Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the heavens and the earth would not have been created, and that Allah created him thousands of years before Adam (peace be upon him), and that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, created the sun from the light of his forehead and the stars from the light of his teeth, and much of that which I do not remember, and that it is written on the gate of Paradise: "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." I have asked some scholars about these statements, and some affirmed them while others denied them, leaving me in this confusion. I am in doubt whether to believe them or not, and I am very afraid and constantly in confusion. I remember that on the night of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) birth this year, I went to the House of the Qur'an inAmmanto celebrate that blessed night, and the ShaykhHazim Abu Ghazalawas reciting to us from the biography of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Among the things he said was that whenever he went to visit the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would go to the iron fence placed around the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to seek blessing from it, claiming that he was removing the dust to catch the guards off guard. He also mentioned that one of his friends had brought him some soil from the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and that the scent of this soil was sweeter than the scent of perfume.
When I heard this, I remembered an incident that happened to me decades ago when I and some friends went to visit the Church of the Resurrection. The purpose of the visit was to mess around and harass the foreign Christian women—may Allah forgive us all. While we were in the church, we met one of the monks who brought us some perfume and said to us: "This is the water with which Christ—peace be upon him and our Prophet—was baptized." I do not know what connected these two matters in my mind, and I suffered greatly. After that, the Shaykh and those around him began the dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and everyone stood up and started jumping and swaying with strange movements, to the point that the words of Allah could hardly be heard from their mouths. I did not like this scene, so I left, and doubt and suspicion began to trouble me: did I do the right thing or the wrong? This incident has repeated itself on the Night of Decree and on all religious occasions. I ask you, for the sake of Allah, to guide me, for I am suffering greatly. I want to ask your eminence: is it permissible for me, or for any Muslim, to view the grave of the Messenger (peace be upon him) from inside the fence? I have been fortunate and have visited the grave of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and stood at the fence. I wished I were a butterfly so that I could get closer to his grave (peace be upon him), not for anything else, but just to be near him (peace be upon him). I believe that the grave is made of soil, and that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and His Messenger are present in the heart of every believer. I wish I could go to those sacred lands every day and every hour to see the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Noble Garden,
and the Sacred Ka'bah, but my limited finances prevent me from doing so, and Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.

A: First: Holding a Mawlid for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do for himself, and none of his Caliphs or his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did it for him (peace and blessings be upon him). It is authentically reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
. Second: What some people have mentioned, namely that the heavens and the earth were not created except for the sake of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and that his creation was before Adam, etc.—all these statements are not true, even though he is the master of the messengers and the best of all creation. However, it is not permissible to describe him with anything that has not been established from Allah, nor from His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), nor from his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Third: If a person visits the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he comes to the grave and greets the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions, Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he does not stand afterwards to make du'a' (supplication), nor does he hold the fence to seek blessing from it, because that is a religious innovation (bid'ah). Fourth: The claim that a person brought you soil from the soil of the grave of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is a false claim with no basis; because no one is able to take anything from the soil of his grave, absolutely. And even if it were possible for someone to do so, seeking blessing from it is not prescribed, because there is no basis for it and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do it, and they are the most knowledgeable
people about him and his Sunnah, and the most loving to him (peace and blessings be upon him) after them, and we have in them a good example. We ask Allah to grant us and you beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
