The people of the pilgrim setting aside a bed or the like until the pilgrim returns and then sitting on it

The first question of Fatwa number ( 5954 ):
Q1: In our country, when someone goes for Hajj, the people of the pilgrim set out a seat or a bed for him, wash it, then spread it with bedding and perfume it. They place coins and bottles of perfume on its sides, then they prevent people from sitting on it, saying: This is set aside until the pilgrim returns from Hajj and sits on it, and after that, whoever wishes may sit on it. I ask for a ruling on this custom, and we offer you our sincere thanks and may Allah benefit the Muslim community through you.
A1: What you mentioned regarding the practice of the people of the pilgrim for one among them who intends to perform Hajj—setting out a bed or the like, washing it, spreading it, and perfuming it, then preventing people from sitting on it until the pilgrim returns and sits on it, and then allowing whoever wishes to sit on it—this is among the newly invented religious innovations and legislation that Allah has not commanded. And Allah the Exalted said:
Or have they other deities who have ordained for them a religion to which Allah has not consented?
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُAnd it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.
من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردHe who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
