Ruling on Reciting the Qur'an in Congregation with One Voice After Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 4994 ):
Q3: It is our custom, we Moroccans, to recite the Qur'an in congregation in the morning and evening after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers. Some people here say that it is a religious innovation.
A3: Making it a habit to recite the Qur'an in congregation with one voice after every Fajr and Maghrib prayer, or any other prayer, is a religious innovation. Likewise, making it a habit to make supplication in congregation after prayer is a religious innovation. However, if each person recites for himself, or if they study the Qur'an together, with one person reciting and the others listening whenever one finishes, then this is among the best acts of drawing near to Allah; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah (mosques) and recite the Book of Allah and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them tranquility and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah mentions them in the presence of those near Himما اجتمع قوم في بيت من بيوت الله يتلون كتاب الله ويتدارسونه بينهم إلاَّ نزلت عليهم السكينة وغشيتهم الرحمة وحفتهم الملائكة وذكرهم الله فيمن عنده
Sahih Muslim 2699a
. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
