The thirteenth question of Fatwa No. ( 5782 ):
Q13: Is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a light from the light of Allah, as some people say? And is he the light of the Throne of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)?
A13: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a light of guidance and right direction, as the Exalted said:[Ash-Shuraa 42:52] And the Exalted said: [Al-Ahzab 33:45-46] His body is not light, nor is he from the light of Allah which is His attribute; rather, he is flesh and bone and what is mixed with them, created from a father and a mother like the rest of humanity, as is the established practice of Allah the Exalted among humans. He used to eat and drink and attend to his affairs, and he had a shadow when he walked in the sun or the like. As for the saying of the Exalted: [Al-Ma'idah 5:15-16] the verse, the intended meaning of "light" therein is the revelation with which Allah sent him, an instance of attaching the specific to the general. It is not established in the Qur'an or in the authentic Sunnah that he is the light of the Throne of Allah. Whoever claims that is a liar. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

A13: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a light of guidance and right direction, as the Exalted said:
And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path -
(45) O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner. (46) And one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp.
There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. (16) By which Allah guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace
