Hanging amulets on a person or others from the Qur'an
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The seventh question of Fatwa No. ( 2775 ):
Q7: The imam of the prayer takes from the Qur'an a means of seeking protection, hanging some of it on himself and making it for others as a custom, and in any case he leads the people in prayer. Is it permissible to follow that man in prayer and pray behind him, or not?
A7: Hanging amulets on a person or others from the Qur'an is forbidden according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions, and if it is from other than the Qur'an, it is more strictly forbidden. The levels of the ruling differ according to the intention of the one who does it; it may be major shirk if he believes that it has an effect without Allah, it may be minor shirk, and it may be a religious innovation and a sin less than that. In any case, it is not permissible to do it, and one should not follow in prayer one who does it or hangs it. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
