The Claim of Al-Khidr's Life

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions from Fatwa No. ( 5513 ):
Q1: Is Al-Khidr (peace be upon him) still alive as they claim?

A1: The correct opinion among the scholars is what the majority held, namely that Al-Khidr (peace be upon him) has died; due to the apparent generality in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity
[Al-Anbya 21:34]
, and due to what is established from Ibn 'Umar from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed the 'Isha' prayer with us one night in the last of his life, and when he finished the prayer, he stood up and said:
Do you not see that this night of yours, in a hundred years from now, not one person who is on the face of the earth will remain? Ibn 'Umar said: The people were surprised by the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the reports they were discussing about a hundred years. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) only said: "Not one person who is today on the face of the earth will remain," meaning by that that that century would end.
Narrated by Muslim . Then, this is the prevailing principle in the Sunnah of Allah regarding the children of Adam, so one must assume he remains alive until evidence is established indicating otherwise, and we do not know of any evidence indicating an exception for Al-Khidr (peace be upon him).
