Are the hadiths narrated about al-Khidr (peace be upon him) authentic up to this day, and is he alive?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Are the hadiths narrated about al-Khidr (peace be upon him) authentic up to this day, and is he alive?

The Shaykh : Yes. As for him being alive, no, he is not alive, because if he were alive, it would be obligatory for him to believe in the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and to strive in jihad with him, and none of that happened. Al-Khidr, like other human beings, died in his time, as far as we can see. Also, al-Khidr was not a prophet, but rather a man to whom Allah the Exalted granted knowledge that Musa (peace be upon him) did not know. This is because Musa (peace be upon him) said that no one on earth was more knowledgeable than he was, so Allah the Mighty and Majestic showed him this lesson: that Musa (peace be upon him), even though he had much knowledge of the Shari'ah of Allah, might still miss some other information. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
