The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6257 ):
Q3: Is it true that our master 'Isa (peace be upon him) is still alive and subsisting in the third heaven? Was he not crucified? And will he return to the earth one more time? And if he returns, will he return as a prophet or as an ordinary person?
A3: 'Isa (peace and blessings be upon him) was not crucified and was not killed. Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:157], and rather He raised him alive to the heaven with his soul and his body; due to His saying, the Exalted: [An-Nisa 4:158], and he will descend at the end of time as a just judge, breaking the cross, killing the pig, and ruling by the Shari'ah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
and blessings be upon him. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them
وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْRather, Allah raised him to Himself
بَلْ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِand blessings be upon him. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
