The Ruling on Celebrating the Night of the Middle of Sha'ban

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to celebrate the night of the middle of Sha'ban and to keep this night awake?

Answer:
It is not permissible to celebrate the night of the middle of Sha'ban, and it has no basis. Nor is it permissible to celebrate the twenty-seventh night of Rajab, which they call the night of the Isra and Mi'raj. All of this is religious innovation (bid'ah). One does not celebrate the night of the middle of Sha'ban, nor the twenty-seventh night of Rajab. All of this is among the innovations that people have introduced. Likewise, celebrating the Prophet's birthday is an innovation. It is not permissible to celebrate the Prophet's birthday, nor the night of the middle of Sha'ban, nor the twenty-seventh night of Rajab, which they call the night of the Isra and Mi'raj. All of this is an innovation that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do, nor did his Rightly Guided Caliphs, nor his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), nor the righteous Salaf in the three blessed centuries. Rather, this is something that people have introduced. We ask Allah for safety from it. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen.
