The Exaggeration of the Qadariyyah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa No. ( 1304 ):

Q: The questioner asks to be given an idea about the Qadariyyah sect, and mentions that he read a book from the books of this sect called: *Al-Fayd al-Rabaniyyah fi al-Ma'athir wa al-Awrad al-Qadariyyah* (The Divine Effusions in the Deeds and Invocations of the Qadariyyah), and found in it a poem containing claims and deeds attributed to the Shaykh of the Qadariyyah path. Is what is in it true or false? The questioner sent the poem along with his request for a ruling on what is in it.
A: The poem sent by the questioner to know whether what is in it is true or false indicates that its author is an ignorant person who claims for himself claims that are all disbelief and misguidance. He claims that all the knowledge of the scholars is drawn from his knowledge and is a branch of it, that the conduct of the servants is only by what he has made obligatory and established for them, that he is capable of closing Hell by his greatness were it not for a prior covenant from the Messenger, that he will aid those who are faithful to him among his followers and save them from calamities, protect them in this world and the Hereafter, secure them from fears, and accompany them with the Scales on the Day of Resurrection. These false claims do not come from anyone but an ignorant person who does not know his own
worth, for the perfection of knowledge belongs to Allah alone, and the affairs of the Hereafter and the keys of matters are with Allah alone, not with a near angel, nor a sent prophet, nor any righteous person among the righteous. And Allah commanded His Messenger – who is the best of His creation – to recite to the Ummah His saying, the Exalted:
Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
[Al-A'raf 7:188]
, and His saying, the Exalted:
(21) Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction." (22) Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge.قُلْ إِنِّي لاَ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلاَ رَشَدًا (21) قُلْ إِنِّي لَنْ يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِنْ دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا
[Al-Jinn 72:21-22]
. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the people closest to him, nearest to him in kinship, and most entitled to his kindness, to save themselves from the punishment of Allah by believing in Him, the Exalted, and acting according to His Shari'ah. He informed them that he would not avail them of anything from Allah, and he informed them that Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus will each say on the Day of Resurrection: "Myself, myself." So how can the Shaykh of the Qadariyyah path or any other created being have the power to save his followers, protect those who are faithful to his covenant, aid them, and accompany them when their deeds are weighed on the Day of Resurrection? How can he have the power to close the gates of Hell by his greatness? This is indeed the clear slander and open disbelief in the Shari'ah of the Lord of the Worlds. The author of this poem has increased in his exaggeration and transgressed the limits of sense
and reason and the Shari'ah, claiming that he was in the light of Muhammad before the creation existed, that he was at the distance of two bows' length, the gathering of the beloveds, meaning with Jibril and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them both), that he was with Noah (peace be upon him) in the ship and witnessed the flood on the palm of his power, that he was with Abraham (peace be upon him) when he was thrown into the fire, and that this fire cooled by his supplication, that he was with Isma'il, and that the ram did not descend except by his fatwa or his youth, that he was with Jacob (peace be upon him) when his sight was afflicted, and that his eyes did not heal except by his spittle, that he is the one who seated Idris (peace be upon him) in the Garden of Firdaus, that he was with Moses (peace be upon him) during his conversation with his Lord, and that the staff of Moses was derived from his staff, that he was with Jesus in the cradle, and that he is the one who gave David a beautiful voice in recitation. He even claimed something more severe than that: he claimed that he is Allah in the three verses of his poem, and the most explicit of them is his saying:

Far is Allah from that, exalted by a great exaltation. What disbelief is there after this disbelief, and I seek refuge in Allah? O my brother the questioner, what is in the poem of the Shaykh of this sect of slander, disbelief, and tyranny is sufficient for you from the evil of listening to it and spares you from knowing the details of the history and biography of the Qadariyyah. Strive to know the truth from the Book of Allah
the Exalted and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the clarification of the righteous Salaf from the Companions and those who followed them in goodness of the Book and the authentic Prophetic Sunnah, along with our belief that the Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani to whom this path is attributed is innocent of this poem as the wolf is innocent of the blood of the son of Jacob, and his followers lie about him a lot and attribute to him what he is innocent of. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
