The questioner : And also so that I can devote more time to acts of worship, as she would occupy my time. My husband’s consent is contingent upon your ruling, Your Eminence. Is this among the matters that allow me to leave Hajj this year?

The Shaykh : Yes. There is no blame on this woman, in her situation, to postpone Hajj to the coming year.
First: because many scholars say that Hajj is not obligatory immediately. And that it is permissible for a person to postpone it while he is able.
Second: this woman needs to stay in order to care for her children. Caring for her children is a great good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A woman is the guardian of her husband's house and is responsible for it. المرأة راعية في بيت زوجها ومسؤولة عن رعيتها
Sahih al-Bukhari 893
. So I say: let her wait until the coming year. And we ask Allah to make things easy for her and to decree for her what is in her good.
