Sometimes a woman’s menstrual period comes with a few drops, then stops for a day or two, and then comes again with a few drops. Is she required to pray during the times when the blood stopped?

The questioner : In this question, it is also stated: Sometimes this period comes with a few drops of blood, then stops for a day or two, and then comes again with a few drops. Is she required to pray during the times when the blood stopped, given that she does not know whether the period has stopped completely or not?

The Shaykh : In reality, in such a matter, we must know whether this woman is a beginner or one who has a regular pattern. If she has a regular pattern of days, for example, five days,
Al-Huwayni: Yes.

The Shaykh : or six, or fewer, or more, she must adhere to her ruling, and she is in a state of menstruation until she sees purity.
Al-Huwayni: Yes.

The Shaykh : If she sees purity, she has become pure. But if she is a beginner who has not yet established a regular pattern,
Al-Huwayni: Yes.

The Shaykh : she sees the blood and responds to its color. If it is black, as it is known from the authentic hadith:
The blood of menstruation is black, recognizable, or recognizable دم الحيض أسود يعرِف أو يعرَف
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 2:4
then she is menstruating.
Al-Huwayni: Yes.

The Shaykh : If the blood is not black, she is a woman with irregular bleeding.
Al-Huwayni: Yes.

The Shaykh : Accordingly, every woman should proceed according to her status. The woman with a regular pattern must adhere to her pattern until she sees purity, even if the blood does not continue.

The questioner : She is a woman with a regular pattern, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Then she proceeds according to the last day of her days.
