Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, this is the sixty-sixth hadith, and it is authentic. He said:
From Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
No servant is struck down by a stroke of illness but that Allah sends him forth from it pure. ما من عبدٍ يُصرع صرعة من مرض إلا بعثَه الله منها طاهراً
.
"Struck down" means that it is not the known condition of epilepsy, but rather that this illness strikes him and casts him onto the bed. If he survives it and Allah the Mighty and Majestic grants him health, he emerges pure from his sins. It was narrated by Ibn Abi al-Dunya and al-Tabarani in *al-Kabir*, and its narrators are trustworthy. He said: "And it is also authentic".
