The questioner : If you would allow me, as it came in the hadith:
Whoever eats seven dates from the highlands of Madinah, neither sorcery nor poison will harm him مَن تصبَّح بسبعِ تمراتٍ من عالية المدينة لم يُصِبْه سحرٌ ولا سامٌّ
, here Shaykh Ibn Baz says: If dates from Madinah are available, then of course that is what should be used, and if they are not available, fear Allah as much as you are able. So, is the condition that they be from the highlands of Madinah, or does any Ajwa date suffice?

The Shaykh : It is as the Messenger of Allah said, and then as Ibn Baz said.

The questioner: Yes.
As it came in the hadith, Ajwa or dates, what is the term used? Fresh dates or dates?

The Shaykh : Ajwa.

The questioner : My Shaykh, the Ajwa is distinguished, even to the point that they have it there at a price; they tell me we bought it once for a hundred riyals, Abu Nasser, is that not so? The Ajwa, the Ajwa.

Another questioner : Yes, indeed... The Ajwa is a hundred riyals per kilo from Madinah.
