It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to have a morning meal of seven dates. So, may we tell the fasting person that he may break his fast with seven dates?

The questioner : It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to eat seven dates in the morning. So, is it possible for us to tell the fasting person...?

The Shaykh :
Whoever has a morning meal of seven Ajwa dates, no poison or sorcery will affect him that day. من تصبح بسبع تمرات من تمرات العجوة لم يصبه ذلك اليوم سم ولا سحر

The questioner : Is it possible to tell the fasting person that he may break his fast with seven dates?

The Shaykh : This has not been transmitted. This "having a morning meal" means eating them in the morning on an empty stomach, as people say. And this is a characteristic that is either specific to Ajwa dates only, as the hadith appears to indicate, or to dates in general. But the Messenger mentioned Ajwa dates by way of example.

The questioner : Shaykh, on the same day or...?

The Shaykh : They say their argument is that they have a valid argument. They say, "As long as the questions are limited to three, they are the ones who ask three, and that is sufficient. And when we come to ask, three come forward." And this is what makes us ask about what has passed. And this is an excuse. I think they have no excuse for this. I only accepted what is in the hadith that is with us. Yes, yes.
