What is the validity of the statement of one who says: Allah exists, but He is not in a place?

The Shaykh : But in my opinion, those whom we have known, both in the past and in recent times, are content with the belief that Allah exists. We say: They utter this statement and may add to it a negative clause, imagining that this negation is a form of exalting Allah; that is, like His saying, the Exalted: [Ash-Shuraa 42:11] But there is a vast difference between this Qur'anic text and their statement, which they claim is exalting Allah. What is it? "Allah exists, but He is not in a place." So we return to say: If this negator who says that Allah exists but is not in a place means that He is in a created place, then this is what we mentioned earlier: it is not permissible for a Muslim to place his greatest Lord in this smaller creation, because Allah is greater than everything. But as it is said, "Behind the mound is what lies beyond it." Behind this word, which appears to be exalting Allah, is actually ta'til (denial of the divine attributes); that is, denying the existence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in His essence and attributes, but using an expression that suggests affirmation along with exalting Him, which is not the case. Those who were so in the past and still are, when they want to affirm the existence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), say: Allah exists in every place. This is a word we hear on many occasions from the general public and some of the elite: the statement that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) exists in every place. This is a great misguidance because it amounts to filling the Creator with the creation, and this is misguidance. When some of the misguided who do not believe in the texts of the Book and the Sunnah, and in the realities of the verses and hadiths related to the attributes, felt that this statement attributes incapacity to Allah and confines Him to His small creation, they returned to a statement that is more cunning and more bitter than their previous one. The previous statement was that Allah exists in every place. So what did they say? They said: Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not described as being above or below, nor on the right or the left, nor in front or behind, nor inside the world or outside it. The meaning of this statement is that Allah does not exist. The point is that the statement that Allah is not above, not below, not on the right, not on the left, not in front, not behind, not inside the world, and not outside it, is a description of a non-existent thing. If one were to ask the most eloquent of the Arabs to describe a non-existent thing for us, he would not be able to describe it with more than what these people describe their object of worship with: not above, not below, and so on. Therefore, when one of the intelligent among some of the sheikhs of the misguided heard their Lord described with this negating description, he said a word of utmost intelligence and acumen. He said: "These are a people who have lost their Lord," not above, not below, not inside the world, and not outside it.
