A word from His Eminence the Shaykh urging his brothers and loved ones to give charity to the Afghan mujahideen.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : His Eminence the Shaykh, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seize opportunities with his beloved Companions to guide them to what is good for their religion and their worldly life. So when a group of people wearing woolen cloaks came to him, in a state of poverty, he urged the Companions to give charity. These people who are present in this mosque love you for the sake of Allah. Would you revive the Sunnah of the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him) and urge these loved ones to give charity to the Afghan mujahideen, who live a difficult life in the mountains of cold and snow, fighting the red communism? Please, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : There is nothing new other than what has come before. What is it? I did not understand well.
The student : There are donation boxes in the mosque. If you directed a word to these loved ones who love you for the sake of Allah so that they would donate into these boxes.

The Shaykh : This question reminds me of what came in Sahih Muslim from the hadith of Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him): "That a group of Bedouins entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and they were wearing woolen cloaks"; meaning: cloaks or blankets. The narrator says: "Wearing woolen cloaks, wearing swords"; meaning: they had opened a slit in those blankets to put their heads through so they could warm themselves from the cold. He said: "Most of them were from Mudar, indeed all of them were from Mudar. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them, his face changed color; meaning: out of sorrow and grief for them. And he said to his Companions (peace and blessings be upon him):
And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous."
[Al-Munafiqun 63:10]
Then he said to them (peace and blessings be upon him), confirming for them what came in the noble verse regarding the command to give charity, saying:
A man gave charity with his dirham, his dinar, his sa' of wheat, his sa' of barley
; meaning: let each of you give charity with what is easy for him of charity, with a sa' of his wheat, or at least with a sa' of his barley. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not finish his sermon and his reminder to his Companions until one of his Companions stood up to go to his house and return immediately to the gathering of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to place before him what was easy for him of food or dirhams or dinars. When the rest of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) saw what their Companion had done, each of them went to his house to return also with what was easy for him of charity. So it was placed before the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Jarir said:
So there gathered before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) from food and dirhams and dinars like piles of mountains. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that, his face shone as if it were gilded
meaning: his face (peace be upon him) shone like silver plated with gold, sparkling with joy at the response of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to his command for them to give charity. Then he said, encouraging the Muslims to follow the first man who brought the charity before the others, the authentic and famous hadith on this occasion, which the innovators place in other than its correct place. He said (peace and blessings be upon him) on this occasion:
Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of whoever acts in accordance with it until the Day of Resurrection, without anything being deducted from their rewards. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will have its sin and the sin of whoever acts in accordance with it until the Day of Resurrection, without anything being deducted from their sins
So I urge you with the urging of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to his Companions to give charity. And charity now of wheat and barley does not benefit, rather what benefits is dirhams and dinars. So give charity as he (peace be upon him) said in the other hadith:
Give charity even with half a date
an indication that this charity, however small and light it is, charity with charity with charities enriches groups of people and feeds the hungry. So give charity even with half a date, and if you do not find that, then with a kind word. And the kind word here, regarding our brothers the mujahideen from the Afghans or the Arabs assisting them, is at least supplicating for them that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) grant them a victorious and near victory over their enemy.
