What is the ruling on wiping over henna applied to the hair during wudu'?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: Your Eminence,The Shaykh : What is the ruling on wiping over henna applied to the hair during wudu'?

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with it. Even if it prevents water from reaching the hair. However, in the ghusl for janabah or menstruation, it must be removed. The evidence for the first point is that there is no harm in it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applied a thickening agent to his head during his ihram for Hajj. This means he applied a substance made of gum, honey, or something similar to prevent his hair from becoming disheveled. As he (peace and blessings be upon him) said when he was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, will you not shorten your hair—meaning from your 'Umrah—and remove your state of ihram as the others have done?” He said:
I have driven my sacrificial animal and stuck my hair, and it is not permissible for me to put off Ihram إني قد سقت هديي ولبدت رأسي فلا أحل حتى أنحر
Sahih Muslim 1229c
. Therefore, henna on the head, even if it prevents water from reaching the hair, is permissible during wudu'. However, in the ghusl for janabah or menstruation, it must be removed.
