The questioner : A questioner says: O honorable Shaykh, on a Friday I performed the ghusl for Jumu'ah and intended to perform wudu' after this ghusl, but I forgot the wudu', and I forgot the wudu' and prayed Jumu'ah. What is required of me? Do I repeat the prayer, or what?

The Shaykh : Yes. First, my brothers: it is obligatory for a person to know that the ghusl for Jumu'ah is obligatory. And whoever does not perform the ghusl is a sinner against Allah and His Messenger, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Taking a bath (before coming to Friday prayers) is obligatory on every adult. غسل الجمعة واجب على كل محتلم
Riyad as-Salihin 1152
, this is one point.
Second: Is this ghusl for a state of ritual impurity or for something other than a state of ritual impurity?
The answer: It is not for a state of ritual impurity, and if it is not for a state of ritual impurity, the state of ritual impurity is not removed by it, because the state of ritual impurity is only removed if the purification is for a state of ritual impurity. And if the state of ritual impurity is not removed by it and a person prays Jumu'ah without wudu', he must repeat it as Zuhr, because he did not intend to remove the state of ritual impurity. However, if he performed ghusl for major ritual impurity and did not perform wudu', his prayer is valid, because it is permissible for a person to pray with the ghusl for major ritual impurity even if he did not perform wudu'. But with the condition: that he rinses his mouth and inhales water into his nose.
And based on this, we say to the brotherThe questioner : The most cautious course for you is to repeat the Jumu'ah prayer as Zuhr, and you have, if Allah wills, obtained the reward, because you did not intentionally pray without wudu'. Yes.
