Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((... That is better for you, if you know.))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
That is better for you
That is.
The reference is to hastening to the Friday prayer
better for you خير لكم
from selling and from this world and what is in it. By Allah, one single act of obedience in which you obey Allah is better for you than this world and what is in it. Why? Because this world is transient and obedience remains. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
And the space occupied by the whip of one of you in Paradise is better than the world and what is on it.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1664Sahih (Darussalam)
. O Allah, make for us a place therein, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, make for us a place therein. O Allah, make for us a place therein.
And the space occupied by the whip of one of you in Paradise is better than the world and what is on it.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1664Sahih (Darussalam)
Your world? The world from its beginning to its end is better than this world and what is in it. Did you understand, my brother?
If anyone builds a mosque for God, God will build a house for him in paradise.
Mishkat al-Masabih 697
Take it. Is the house a place for one voice or more? Answer, everyone. More,
Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs, Allah (SWT) will build for him a house in paradise
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1802Da'if (Darussalam)
four before the midday prayer with two salams, and two after it, and two after the sunset prayer, and two after the night prayer, and two before the dawn prayer. If you pray them for one day, Allah will build for you a house in Paradise. And on the second day, a second house, and the third and the fourth. So: The saying of Allah the Mighty and Majestic here:
That is better for you
means: from selling, and even if it is great and its profit is much, your going to the remembrance of Allah on Friday is better than that.
[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess - it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.
[Al-Baqarah 2:184]
Meaning: If you are among those with knowledge and understanding, then know that this is better for you.
And here I point out that a person should pause when he says:
That is better for you
he pauses, then he says:
[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess - it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.
[Al-Baqarah 2:184]
Why? Because if he said:
That is better for you, if you only knew.
[At-Tawbah 9:41]
it would imply that the condition is in the goodness, meaning: It is better for us if we know, otherwise it is not. And the matter is not so. It is better for us in all cases, but
[Fasting for] a limited number of days.
[Al-Baqarah 2:184]
as if He the Mighty and Majestic is saying: Know, if you are among those with knowledge, that this is better for you.
And for this reason, we find that if a person leaves selling at the call to Friday prayer and then returns to selling after the Friday prayer, Allah will bless him in his selling and expand it for him, and the opposite is the opposite.
And here ends the discussion of this verse, and we will return, if Allah wills, in the next meeting to complete the surah, if Allah the Exalted wills. And now to the questions in the remaining time. The brothers in Riyadh al-Khudra? The brothers in Riyadh al-Khudra. There are none.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace. Can you hear or not?

The questioner : Clear.

The Shaykh : Clear? Now we begin with the questions. Take, gather for you questions; you had questions so that you can write them down for us.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : If Allah wills.

The questioner : May Allah reward the Shaykh with the best reward and benefit us all with what we heard.
