Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And the Hereafter is better for you than the first)

Allah the Exalted said:
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].وَلَلآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ الأُولَى
[Al-Dhuha: 4] This sentence is emphasized by the initial lam, and (the Hereafter) is the day on which people are resurrected and return to their final abode, either Paradise or the Fire, so Allah says to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): (And the Hereafter is better for you than the first) meaning: than this world,And that is because the Hereafter contains: (What no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived) and (the place of a whip of one of us in Paradise is better than this world and what is in it), as reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and for this reason, when Allah gave His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) the choice during his illness between living in this world as long as he lived and what is with Allah, he chose what is with Allah, as he announced (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in his sermon, where he said while on the pulpit: (Indeed, a servant of Allah was given the choice by Allah between living in this world as long as Allah willed him to live and what is with Him, so he chose what is with Him) So Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) wept, and the people were amazed at his weeping, asking how he could weep over this?! But he (may Allah be pleased with him) was the most knowledgeable of people about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family); he knew that the one given the choice was the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and that he had chosen what is with Allah, which is the Hereafter, and that this was a sign of the nearness of his term.
