The Shaykh : The chapter one hundred and four "The Slave is a Guardian".
He narrated it with his chain of transmission.
From Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saidAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 206
It is clear that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited this long hadith for the sake of its final section, which is his sayingAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 206 to the end of the hadith.
And as I mentioned in a previous lesson, since there are no longer slaves and masters due to the invalidation of, or the Muslims' turning away from, jihad in the path of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), naturally there are no longer slaves for us to discuss the rulings concerning these slaves and their masters. And were it not that we are in the process of reading a book on the Sunnah, on the Prophetic hadith of the Prince of the Believers in hadith, namely Imam al-Bukhari, there would be no great benefit in reading these hadiths related to slaves.
Because, as is said today, this research is not relevant. However, one must pass through these hadiths and get a general idea so that the Muslim is aware of what came in the Sunnah regarding slaves. Therefore, we do not dwell long on this specific section concerning slaves, but rather we should speak about the preceding sections, for they are related to the lives of Muslims in every age and in every land.
He narrated it with his chain of transmission.
From Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. The amir of a people is a shepherd and he is responsible for his flock. A man is the shepherd of the people of his house and he is responsible for his flock. A man's slave is the shepherd of his master's property and he is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock.
It is clear that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited this long hadith for the sake of its final section, which is his saying
A man's slave is the shepherd of his master's property and he is responsible for it.
وعبد الرجل راعٍ على مال سيده وهو مسؤول عنهAnd as I mentioned in a previous lesson, since there are no longer slaves and masters due to the invalidation of, or the Muslims' turning away from, jihad in the path of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), naturally there are no longer slaves for us to discuss the rulings concerning these slaves and their masters.
