What is the ruling on listening to the Friday sermon? Is it obligatory or recommended?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : What is the ruling on listening to the Friday sermon? Is it obligatory or recommended?
The apparent meaning of His saying—Blessed and Exalted is He—:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]
; that is, to His sermon and the prayer
And leave off selling
. The apparent meaning of this is that the intended act is attending the sermon. However, attending the sermon is not a condition for the validity of the Friday prayer. Whoever attends has fulfilled this obligation. If he misses part of this sermon, or misses the entire sermon, his prayer is valid, based on what is established:
That whoever catches one unit of the Friday prayer has caught the Friday prayer, and whoever misses one unit should pray it as the midday prayer
