The Shaykh : There is no god but Allah, alone, having no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
[Ali 'Imran 3:102] .
[An-Nisa 4:1] .
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71] .
As for what follows:
For indeed, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
After a long interruption due to compelling circumstances, we return and resume the lesson on *Al-Adab al-Mufrad* by Imam al-Bukhari.
And I think the last lesson ended at the ninety-third hadith after the two hundred, so we begin with it, and it is one of the authentic hadiths that Imam al-Bukhari narrated in this book, *Al-Adab al-Mufrad*, with a sound chain.
From Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:35.
In this hadith is an explanation of the virtue of good character when a Muslim adopts it, to the extent that it becomes a cause for freeing its owner from the punishment he deserves due to the sins and transgressions he had committed. So this is a man about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: meaning from the Children of Israel, Sunan Abi Dawud 5245Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani): except that he was a believer. We must always and forever assume in every hadith we read or every report we hear that contains such a great virtue, and where it is not mentioned that the one deserving this virtue was a Muslim, that we must assume in every hadith we hear that mentions a virtue that the one deserving this virtue was a Muslim. So we hear in this hadith his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Ibn Hibban 43:35 He did not say he was a Muslim, so we must interpret this man as having been a Muslim, even if his description as a Muslim was not mentioned in the hadith. And this is taken from the principles of the Shari'ah, because Allah says regarding every one who associates partners with Allah: [Al-Furqan 25:23] And Allah the Exalted says, addressing the Ummah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the person of the Prophet: [Az-Zumar 39:65] So when we hear such a hadith: and then we hear at the end of the hadith that Allah passed over him, we must immediately assume in our minds that this man was a Muslim. And in a hadith like this, in a specific form, it is very necessary that this man was a Muslim, because he says: Sahih Muslim 1561 even though the greatest of good is faith. Therefore, it came in the hadith of intercession that Allah the Exalted commands, in the final stage, when the messengers and prophets, the angels, and the righteous intercede, and then the Lord of the Worlds (Blessed and Exalted is He) intercedes, and He says in some of the authentic narrations: He says to the angels and the intended meaning of this good is faith. So if we read this hadith: and then the hadith concludes that Allah the Exalted, after reckoning this person, passed over him, we must assume and keep in mind that he was a Muslim. Otherwise, if he had been one who associates partners with Allah and had filled the earth with good and virtue, that would not benefit him in any way, as you heard in the previous verse: [Al-Furqan 25:23].
And this authentic hadith, which Imam Muslim included in his *Sahih* from the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), confirms the meaning of the hadith: meaning he had two good rewards: the first in this world, immediate, and the second in the Hereafter, delayed. As for the disbeliever: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: .
Allah the Exalted, as He said:[Al-Kahf 18:49] But He reckons every person according to the faith in which he was, so the believer is rewarded for his good deeds in this world and the Hereafter with good. As for the disbeliever, he is rewarded for his good deeds in this world, but in the Hereafter he comes and there is no good deed in his record, because he disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and associated partners with Allah the Exalted, so his work was nullified, and he was among the losers in the Hereafter.
What I intended with this speech is to draw your attention and for you to be careful in religion when you read a hadith like this: You must keep in mind that he was a Muslim, otherwise, if he had been one who associates partners with Allah, his righteous work would not benefit him in any way.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
From Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Before your time a man was called to account and it was found that the only good thing he had done was that he was easy in his business dealings with people. He used to order his slaves to go easy with people who were in difficulty. Allah Almighty said, 'We are more entitled to do that than he is, so forgive him.'
In this hadith is an explanation of the virtue of good character when a Muslim adopts it, to the extent that it becomes a cause for freeing its owner from the punishment he deserves due to the sins and transgressions he had committed. So this is a man about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There was among those before us
كان فيما قبلناnever did a good deed
There was a man from those before you
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.
وقدمنا إلى ما عملوا من عمل فجعلناه هباءً منثوراًthat if you should associate [anything] with Allah, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers."
A man from those before you was reckoned
حوسب رجل ممن قبلكمno good was found in his account
Take out.
Take out from among the people whoever has an atom’s weight of good in him.
A man from among those before you was reckoned.
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.
And this authentic hadith, which Imam Muslim included in his *Sahih* from the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), confirms the meaning of the hadith:
That the believer, when he does a good deed, is rewarded for it in this world and is also reckoned for it on the Day of Resurrection.
As for the disbeliever, whatever good deeds he does in this world, he is rewarded for them in this world, so when the Day of Resurrection comes, he comes with nothing in his record of his good deeds.
Allah the Exalted, as He said:
And your Lord does injustice to no one.
What I intended with this speech is to draw your attention and for you to be careful in religion when you read a hadith like this:
