The Benefit of the Hadith of Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)

The Shaykh : The point of the previous hadith is that it encourages a Muslim, when dealing with his brothers, to deal with them on the basis of leniency and overlooking the mistakes of his companions, and not to cling to their accounts or be strict with them, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will treat the one who overlooks the mistakes and shortcomings of his brothers with the same leniency he showed them. This is the intended meaning of this hadith; therefore, it encourages adopting good Muslim character. For this reason, it was a good arrangement and ordering that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) followed the previous hadith with a subsequent hadith that explicitly states that good character is one of the strong causes that will bring its owner into Paradise.
