What is the ruling on a woman performing Hajj without a mahram, and is her Hajj valid?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : There is another issue: if a woman performs the obligatory Hajj without a mahram, is her Hajj completely invalid and she must repeat it with a mahram, or did the previous Hajj suffice for her and she owes no repetition, but is considered sinful only, and the obligation is lifted from her? The answer is: her Hajj is valid. The woman who performs Hajj without a mahram has a valid Hajj, meaning the obligation has been lifted from her, but at the same time she is sinful, because she contradicted the authentic hadiths of the Messenger (peace be upon him) which state:
A woman should not travel لا تسافر امرأة سفرًا
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 12:26
The hadiths differ in wording but the meaning is the same. Sometimes it is stated generally:
A woman should not travel except with a mahram لا تسافر امرأة سفرًا إلا ومعها محرم
Sometimes it says:
A woman should not travel for one day لا تسافر يومًا
Sometimes two days, sometimes three days. All of these are undoubtedly travel. So a woman should not travel without a mahram with her. Therefore, the one who contradicts this authentic hadith is undoubtedly sinful. And if a woman possesses her health, her wealth, her mount, and everything is ready for her to facilitate the path of Hajj, it is not obligatory for her to perform Hajj unless she has a mahram with her, no matter how rich she is, no matter how strong she is. It is not obligatory for her to perform Hajj except with the presence of a mahram. This is from the mercy of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) toward women and His gentleness with them. So if a woman contradicts this and performs Hajj and carries out the rituals of Hajj in their entirety, or at least the pillars by which Hajj is valid, the obligatory Hajj has been lifted from her liability. But from another angle, she is sinful because she contradicted those authentic hadiths. And it is obligatory for every pilgrim, whether male or female, to keep in mind that the purpose of performing the obligation of Hajj, or coming to the prayer, or other obligations, is not like a burden that a person places on his back or neck and does not believe when he will throw it off. It is not so, because the purpose of these acts of worship and all these acts of obedience is that the Muslim increases in drawing near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) through them, and that he attains His forgiveness and pleasure, and that he returns as on the day his mother bore him, as he (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever performed Hajj and did not commit lewdness or sin, he emerged from his sins as on the day his mother bore him مَن حَجَّ فلم يرفثْ ولم يفسقْ خرجَ من ذنوبه كيوم ولدَتْه أمُّه
So what can be said about a woman who, from the first step she takes from her home to the last step she takes entering her home, is sinful and disobedient to Allah (Mighty and Majestic)? Will she return as her mother bore her? No. Therefore, as I said, it is obligatory for every pilgrim, there is no difference between male and female, to strive to perform this Hajj by which he returns as on the day his mother bore him. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

The questioner: I mean, even if she is very old?

The Shaykh : Even if my sister is an old woman, even if she is...

The questioner: I am not convinced...

The Shaykh : She is not convinced because they do not attend the lessons. If they attended the lessons, they would attend the gossip and not listen to what Allah said and what the Messenger said. Because the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is guidance for the hearts, and likewise the hadith of the Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him). These old women are actually Muslims, meaning they have this psychological clarity and purity of heart, but they do not have knowledge. She is not convinced, why is she not listening to the hadith
A woman should not travel لا تسافر امرأة
It did not say "young girl" nor did it say "old woman," absolutely not. And then, without offense, in the Arabic proverb, do you understand what is meant by it: "For every drop in the neighborhood, there is a catcher." If "old woman" (ajuz) is from the linguistic aspect, the male and female are called: ajuz. So the female is not called "ajuzah" except in a way of error, but for clarification, they say: this is an ajuzah, but in contrast to it is an ajuz.
