Explaining the ruling on gold and silk for men and women.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As the first part of the hadith
This is forbidden for the males of my Ummah. حرامٌ على ذكور أمَّتي
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5147Sahih (Darussalam)
is a rule regarding males, gold and silk are forbidden for males; this is the principle. And they are lawful for women; this is the principle. But every rule has exceptions. For example, it is permissible for a man to have a gold tooth or molar, whereas it is forbidden for a woman to drink from a gold cup, even though gold is permissible for her. So there are exceptions. Among these exceptions regarding women is gold rings. If the hadith had said, "If it were harmful to any of you, it would be obligatory upon you not to use gold rings," it would have been forbidden. But it contains a recommendation without emphasis or compulsion, stating that this is better for you than wearing gold here. - And peace be upon you -.
