Does a woman greet a man by phone? And if she rides in a car with him and his wife, for example, is with him?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Does a woman greet a man by phone? And if she rides in a car with him and his wife, for example, is with him?
The Shaykh : As for the first case, it is necessary; because the Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say:, and if a woman must speak to a strange man, whether she greets him or not—meaning the speech—if this speech is permissible, then the greeting is even more permissible, and if it is prohibited, then the greeting is even more prohibited. As for the second case, if she rides with her husband, her husband's greeting suffices for her greeting.
The Shaykh : As for the first case, it is necessary; because the Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say:
The greeting before speech, and whoever speaks to you before the greeting, do not respond to him.
السلام قبل الكلام ، ومَن كلَّمكم قبل السلام فلا تجيبوه
