If one enters the mosque and prays the greeting of the mosque, then leaves for a simple need, does he repeat the greeting of the mosque?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There is more than one question here, O Shaykh, and the questions are examples of a single issue: If one enters the mosque and prays the greeting of the mosque, then leaves for a simple need, does he repeat the greeting? And if one rides in a car and says the supplication for riding, then gets out for a simple need, does he say the supplication a second time? And if one intends to sleep, sleeps, and says the supplication, then gets up and returns to his bed?

The Shaykh : Repetition does not appear to be required in these examples, except in the case of the greeting, and that is in one specific situation: if one enters the mosque, prays the greeting, then leaves and quickly returns to it. If he intends to sit, he must pray the greeting, no matter how many times he enters and exits, because the condition is present, which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer. إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
So whenever there is entry and sitting, the greeting is required. However, if he enters and does not sit, there is no harm in leaving off the greeting. As for the other examples, I do not find in the Sunnah anything that confirms that one should say them on every occasion of riding or similar examples. The story of the hadith of the greeting is completely different from the other examples.

The questioner : Here, regarding the case where he left within the boundary of the mosque to go perform ablution at the same door of the mosque.

The Shaykh : If the place where he performed ablution is not considered part of the mosque, he is not required to repeat the greeting. But if it is not part of the mosque, the answer has been clarified.

The questioner : When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw off Safiyyah.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw off Safiyyah and then returned to the mosque, is it understood from the generality of the first hadith that he performed the greeting?

The Shaykh : May Allah forgive you, if you had paid attention to my detail, it would have spared you from directing your question to me, because I said that if one enters the mosque and does not sit, there is no objection to leaving off the greeting. And in the hadith, when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to see off Safiyyah and return her to her house, then returned to his house (peace and blessings be upon him), it does not state that he sat in the mosque. Therefore, the question is not applicable.

The questioner : When he was in i'tikaf and went out with Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), was he in the mosque?

The Shaykh : No, he was not. He went out with her to return her to her house, yes.
