Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh says, or rather the questioner says: Honorable Shaykh. A woman who wants to maintain fasting on Mondays and Thursdays and fast the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. But her husband might prevent her from doing so; is she permitted to do so?

The Shaykh : A woman may not fast while her husband is present without his permission, whether it is Monday, Thursday, the white days, or the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, except with his permission. However, it is not befitting for the husband to prevent her from doing good, so that she may feel resentment. If he grants her permission to fast, he has helped her in good, and helping in good is good. So I advise the husband to give her permission to fast. As for if he insists and does not give permission, it is not permissible for the woman to fast while her husband is present without his permission.
