The Wisdom of Hajj and 'Umrah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: There is a person who is known to be wealthy, but the one who distributes zakah fears harm from him. Should he be given from the zakah out of fear of his harm, or not?

Answer: Zakah is distributed in the categories specified by Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and it is not distributed in anything else. Therefore, it is not permissible to give it to a wealthy person. As long as this person you mentioned is wealthy, it is not permissible to give him from the zakah, because he does not deserve it. However, if you want to restrain his tongue and his harm, give him from other than the zakah. And Allah the Exalted knows best.
[The Wisdom of Hajj and 'Umrah]

Question: What is the wisdom in Hajj or 'Umrah?

Answer: The wisdom is that Hajj is a pillar of Islam,Allah the Exalted said:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a wayوَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
[Al 'Imran: 97] ,And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Islam is based upon five: the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the Salat, giving the Zakat, fasting (the month of) Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House.بني الإسلام على خمس، شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدًا رسول الله، وإقام الصلاة، وإيتاء الزكاة، وصوم رمضان، وحج البيت من استطاع إليه سبيلًا
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2609Sahih (Darussalam)
, and in the hadith of Jibril,That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Al-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the journey.الإسلام أن تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدًا رسول الله، وتقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة، وتصوم رمضان، وتحج البيت إن استطعت إليه سبيلًا
Sahih Muslim 8a
.
Hajj is a pillar of Islam, and it is obligatory for the one who is able to perform it. Likewise, 'Umrah is an act of worship for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). So Hajj and 'Umrah are a great worship for Allah, and it is a financial worship and a physical worship.
