Marriage and Its Benefits.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: We are in this night, the night of Monday, or rather the night of Sunday, the sixteenth of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal of the year 1421. We are opening this sixty-sixth of the monthly gatherings that take place every month on the night of the third Sunday in the Great Mosque in Unaizah, in which our brothers in other cities have been participating with us recently. We ask Allah the Exalted to make these gatherings beneficial. We will make this gathering appropriate to what is happening during this break, which is the increase in marriages. We say: Marriage is from the Sunnah of the messengers. Marriage is from the Sunnah of the messengers, as Allah Mighty and Majestic said:[Ar-Ra'd 13:38]. And as the man of Madyan did with Musa ibn 'Imran (peace be upon him) when he said to him: [Al-Qasas 28:27]. And because there are great benefits in it for society in general and for the two spouses in particular, and because it is of the nature of humans, the innate natural disposition loves marriage and desires it. If Allah had not placed the desire for marriage in the fitrah, no one would have married, because one is shy of it, were it not for the strength of desire that causes a man to uncover his 'awrah to a woman and her to uncover hers to a man. But Allah created the creatures with this fitrah for the sake of the great interests, among which are the preservation of the lineage and the preservation of humanity. For if it were not for marriage, humans would not have reproduced and they would have perished.
There are many benefits in marriage: among them is lowering the gaze, yes. Among them is following the example of the messengers, as mentioned before. Among them is: lowering the gaze, yes. Among them is: lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):Mishkat al-Masabih 3080. Among them is: increasing the offspring of the ummah (the Muslim community). For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged us to marry women who are loving and fertile, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will boast to the prophets on the Day of Resurrection with his ummah, and his ummah is the most numerous of the nations without doubt. Among them is: the spending on the wife and children that results from it. Among them is: the closeness of people to one another that results from it, as He Mighty and Majestic said: [Al-Furqan 25:54]. You find a man who does not know these people and has no connection to them. So when he marries one of them, what happens? The connection is established until it is as if they are among his relatives. And this is one of the wisdoms in the plurality of wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), so that he would have a connection by marriage in every tribe of Quraysh. For this reason, how many women did he (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) die leaving behind? How many, people? Nine women. Know the life of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
