Hanging the Noble Qur'an on Walls: We Wish You Would Mention, Even Briefly, Hanging the Noble Qur'an on People Themselves?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : You mentioned that hanging the Noble Qur'an on walls is [permissible]. We wish you would mention, even briefly, hanging the Noble Qur'an on people themselves?

The Shaykh : All right, we will refer to it after completing the research.

The questioner : Well done.

The Shaykh : The answer, if Allah wills. I say that regarding what the brother mentioned about these cards on which the Qur'an is written being thrown in markets, in garbage, and under people's feet, this is also not permissible because it involves desecrating the Noble Qur'an. However, the one addressed by this ruling is the person who has them in their possession.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : However, the sellers who sell them, if they know that this is usually done to them, that is generally a cause for the prohibition of selling and trading in them. This is because the legal principle is that if a contract is a necessary or predominant means to something forbidden, then that contract is forbidden, because it falls under the category of cooperating in sin and aggression.
And I think the answer to the question has ended.

The questioner : Yes, it has ended.

The Shaykh : Regarding hanging the Qur'an on the sick, whether their illnesses are physical or psychological, for the purpose of seeking healing, this is a matter of disagreement between the Salaf and the Khalaf.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Some of the scholars permit it because of the psychological comfort the patient feels, since he is carrying the words of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And the patient's feeling about something has an effect on the illness, increasing it, decreasing it, or removing it, as is well known.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And some of the scholars said that it is not permissible, because it is not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used such a thing for seeking healing. Rather, seeking healing is by reciting what has been reported to the patient.
And if it is not reported from the Lawgiver that this is a cause, then establishing it as a cause is a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah).

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : That is because it is not permissible for us to establish that something is a cause except with evidence from the Shari'ah. So if we establish its causality, that means we have innovated a matter that the Lawgiver did not establish, and this is a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah).

The questioner : Yes, well done.
